Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) invites Online Recruitment Applications (ORA) from desirous and eligible candidates for recruitment of Assistant Professors (College Cadre) Class-I (Gazetted) (on Contract basis) for filling up total 490 Vacancies in the Department of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh. Essential Qualifications:
(1) A good academic record with atleast 55% marks or an equivalent of 55%, wherever the grading system is followed in the Master's degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from foreign University recognized by the Government of India.
(2) For the Assistant Professor in Fine Arts also i.e. Commercial Arts, Drawing and Painting and Sculpture, Master's Degree in Fine Arts having good academic record with 55% marks or equivalent of 55% wherever grading system is followed.
(3) A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to 50% marks, at the Masters Degree for the SC/ ST Categories. (AND) A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) of marks, at the Master's level to the Physically and Visually Handicapped persons in appointment as Assistant Professors.
(4) A relaxation of 5% is provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders, who have passed their Masters Degree prior to the September, 1991.
(5) "B" in the seven point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F shall be regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed. (7 point scale is displayed in the foot note).
(6) Candidate besides fulfilling the above qualifications should have cleared the eligibility test (NET) for Assistant Professor conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited the State Public Service Commission.
(7) "NET/ SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D Degree), Regulation, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of minimum eligibility condition of NET/ SLET for appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in University/ Colleges/ Institutions."

Qualification and Experience:
Medical Officer ->
(1) Recognized Medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or Part-II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. The holders of educational qualification included in Part-II of the third schedule should fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
(2) Completion of compulsory rotating internship.
Assistant Engineer (Civil) ->
(1) Must possess a degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from an Institution / University duly recognized by the Central / State Government.
(2) Desirable - Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Professor ->
(1) BE / B. Tech. and ME / M. Tech. in the relevant branch of Engineering with First Class or equivalent either in BE / B. Tech. or ME / M. Tech. and Ph.D. or equivalent in the appropriate discipline.
(2) Post Ph.D. publication and guiding Ph.D. students is highly desirable.
Assistant Professor ->
(1) Engineering Discipline - BE / B. Tech. and ME / M. Tech. in the relevant branch of Engineering with first class or equivalent either in BE / B. Tech. or ME / M. Tech.
(2) Applied Sciences & Humanities Discipline -> Bachelor and Master's degree in appropriate subject with first class or equivalent either in Bachelor's or Master's level.
Law Officer ->
(1) Should possess a professional degree in Law or its equivalent from any recognized University in India with 3 years experience as a practicing advocate or 5 years experience while working in a Govt. / Semi Govt. Institution.
(2) Desirable - Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of H.P. and suitability for appointment in peculiar conditions prevailing in the state.
Divisional Fire Officer/ Fire Prevention Officer ->
(1) B.E. (Fire Engineering) Degree from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur. (OR)
(2) At least graduate from a recognized University or its equivalent and should have passed Divisional Officer's course from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur. Should have served as Station Fire Officer at least 3 years run by the State Govt. / Central Govt./ Public Sector Undertaking/ Municipal Committees.
(3) Desirable - Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Exam Fee: ₹ 400/- for General Category; ₹ 100/- for S.C. of H.P. /S.T. of H.P. /O.B.C. of H.P.; No fee for Ex-Servicemen of H.P. The Candidates can pay requisite Examination Fee either through 'e-Challan' or through 'e-Payment' option.
